A road-map for the future management of compensation claims

A large portion of my university time last year was spent on co-authoring an article on the future Model of Care for the management of injured workers with a musculoskeletal complaint and a compensation claim. This was published late last year in Best Practice & Research Clinical Rheumatology. The article provides a conceptual framework for consideration of the management of injured workers. Strategies showing promise are explored at the system, organisational and individual levels. The section on individual strategies provides an concise update on present understanding of pain, a useful resource for anyone trying to better understand pain. A feature of the article is a table of helpful and unhelpful behaviours and perspectives, that can be used as a personal checklist to examine ones knowledge.

Recent presentations of this information in Perth and in Darwin have been very well received. I would be happy to discuss this further with any interested party.
